Today I’m going to walk you through the two new Sunspel Riviera Polos that have been sent on to me by Sunspel.

I’ve gone through the garments as Moneypenny would describe in ‘nauseating detail’ in the video below.

The Sunspel Launch

The two new releases include a grey melange Riviera Polo in the mesh weave and also a new Sea Island Cotton in Navy.

I got both garments sent in a size small. The Riviera polos are made in Portugal, although Sunspel do produce their Pima Cotton tee-shirts in England.

Typically, grey doesn’t really set my world on fire. However, the original Riviera design relieved by the mesh weave that gives it a lot of texture.

The details

The breast pocket is open and I’m not sure you’d this for anything, Bond actually uses his open placket to hang his sunglasses.

You have the standard two plastic resin branded buttons on the placket and a spare on the care label.

The sleeves are loose, not cuffed and down at the bottom you have the split hem which allows for a freedom of movement.

Sea Island Cotton Riviera Polo NEW

Okay lets have a look at the Sea Island Cotton polo. Now I’ve paired that with a Pima cotton Sunspel tee because right now its still too nippy to go solo with this outside right now. But it works well I think with the tee.

More details

You have two branded buttons on the placket but these look to be mother of pearl. The pattern again is identical. It’s a much closer knit weave on the Sea Island Cotton.

From trying on both I’d say the sea island cotton is a much closer fit. The Riviera mesh cotton doesn’t really have much fit at all on my frame. I’m a 36″ inch chest and 5’7 on my tippy toes.

You can buy the Riviera Sea Island Cotton Polo in Navy for 190 GBP through this link here.

Included below are two screenshots from the press release and a Vlog of Louis from Sunspel talking about the history of the Riviera polo.
