Hannibal S3, Ep12 The Number of the Beast Is 666
Costume Designer: Christopher Hargadon
Francis Dolarhyde’s (Richard Armitage) wears a Belstaff Leather Gangster jacket as he kidnaps Reba McLane played by Rutina Wesley. The jacket is black leather with a polyester lining. The closure zips down the front lined with buttons. The collar features a locking buckle and sits up much like a nehru collar.
There are two breast flap pockets with press studs in each corner of the flaps. This jacket sold for $900 at auction. Details of the jacket are barely seen due to the colour and the darkly lit room. The attention is mainly pulled towards the dragon wings that Dolarhyde sprouts when he announces he is the dragon.
This is the second Belstaff jacket we’ve seen in the series, the first being a Bikers Jacket Hannibal wears for an impromptu party in Paris in episode 01. The same Gangster Jacket (although different listing on auction) is also worn by Dolarhyde in the final act of episode 13.
The Belstaff Leather Gangster jacket is still available, although with some interpretations in today’s current listing (image below). The breast pockets no longer have the napkin fold/creases at the bottom. They both have inverted pleats running down the centre of the pockets. The skirt pockets are also more angled than the original. As we near the finally of Hannibal, we see less of the tailored clothes, except mainly on Jack Crawford at this point. Hannibal is largely seen in his inmate jumpsuit.
Hannibal the series is based on the books by Thomas Harris. The entire 3 seasons of Hannibal are available on Blu Ray.
