Mind if I Join You? (Min #33)

In minute 33 for Casino Royale we see Bond arrive at the Ocean Club, he’s ordered a large Mount Gay rum with soda. Also he has his back to the barman, how often does that happen? When have you ever been managed to get served at the bar with your back to the barman. But that’s quite Bond, I love that. He’s eyeing up Demetrius on the poker table, and Demetrius is cleaning house. He’s winning big, and he is also getting very touchy feely with the waitress. Whispering in her ear. He is not a guy to be trusted.

Bond says guten abend to the Germans, which again is a nice touch. He goes to the table and Bond is all smiley and disarming, gives Demetrius a quick eyeball. But then enter Solange, and kisses Demetrius who is just about to give her the brush off. You get the feeling Bond is picking up on all these cues.

That Poker table was sold at auction back in NOV 2023

Among the lots to have already sold is a James Bond Casino Royale (2006) casino table from the One & Only Ocean Club when Bond (Daniel Craig) beat Alex Dimitrios (Simon Abkarian) at poker. Estimated at £40,000-80,000, it was hammered down at £120,000 plus 30% buyer’s premium incl. VAT.
