Episode 98 of the There Will Be Bond podcast.

Bond finds a nail gun in the nick of time and nails Gettler. Vesper is locked in a lift cage thingy and it looks like it’s all going downhill for Bond.

From the commentary with Director and Producer.

Those bubbles were part of the real canal. Chris (Courbould) put those in. I kept thinking, how do we kill Gettler? I said put a nail in his goddam eye. We were in the Bahamas she (Vesper) was terrified to begin with (when it came to underwater scenes) but she had total confidence at the end. To be in a cage underwater is psychologically very frightening. Inside the house we had a lift that was rigged within the moving set, we shot the whole underwater sequence. Normally that would be a different set, but we shot it all on the same set as the 007 stage.

Towards the end we did a lot of demolition work, a bit of CGI added debris and dust to beef it up. But it was very fulfilling after months and months I was particularly pleased. Tricky scene to light. The roof was open and with consultation we made sky lights in the set so as it sunk we added more lights. The whole underwater scene took 3 weeks to shoot.

We also did a quiz at half time.
