We left it with Bond, Felix and Le Chiffre at the table, the river is down and the bet is on Felix. Felix as a peripheral figure right now. Felix folds, after raising initially. Leaving just Bond and Le Chiffre. Bond re-raises Le Chiffre 2 million. Le chiffre goes all-in. I like the way Bond raises two, but doesn’t take his eyes off Le Chiffre. He is not playing the cards but the person across from him. And also maybe a little tenuous throwback to when Bond rolls the die in Octopussy, double 6’s without looking.

Chris Nolan-Amazon Bond Talk Heats Up (dark Horizons)

The Wrap has now spoken with a handful of top franchise producers about the deal and the consensus reportedly is that Amazon needs to hire Nolan and give him whatever time and money he needs.

Icons reunited. Pierce Brosnan and the legendary Vanquish from Die Another Day meet again after more than 20 years at Aston Martin’s Gaydon HQ. Brosnan owned a V12 Vanquish but lost it in a garage fire at his home in Malibu in 2015. The only remnant of the vehicle he kept was the plate embossed with his name.

Pick it up here Mathis is about to mansplain some poker to Vesper. OK Bond has to go all in to call his bluff, says Mathis. And the music has this atonal low throb that gives this moment a bit of menace. Bond slams his cards down. Ace Kings, but he is beaten handsomely by Le Chiffre with four jacks. And the game breaks and Bond is left alone at the table rueing what went wrong. Of course he is not to know at this point that Vesper has informed Le Chiffre that Bond is on to his tell.

So Le chiffre has laid a trap for him. He’s also quite odious and smug. The way he lays his hand down, then gives up on it , then reveals the jack underneath. It’s a proper dick move. You know all that murmuring that happened away from the table, thats people just saying, God that guy is a dick isn’t he?
