Bond Coming out of the Water

James Bond starts min 31 with his inquisitions to the receptionist at the Ocean Club who is more than willing to divulge the personal information of the clubs clientele. Perhaps 50/50 through the charm of Bond, and knowing that Demetrius ‘doesn’t take bad news well’ alluding to either a personal altercation, or maybe she has just heard bad things.

A short ‘thank you’ from Bond, and we cut to the next scene. I would personally have needed a bit more information than that. Very loosey goosey with the directions there.

Moving on we see Solange on a horse in a green bikini. Fairly obnoxious thing to do, ride a horse on the beach. Imagine people just sunbathing and you get a horse kick up a load of sand in your face. Also you’re on a private beach and that horse curls one out in your kids sandcastle thats not going to go down too well.

Bond comes out of the water here. Iconic moment for sure. Daniel Craig said he hit a sand bank when he was walking out, thats why he stopped. He wasn’t supposed to stop.

I’m not sure what the purpose of this scene is or why Bond has to be sneaking around Demetrius’ house. I think he’s just trying to threaten him with his nipples or something.

From IMDB

For Daniel Craig‘s now iconic scene where he rises out of the sea in a pair of Speedos, many of the crew were out of camera range in boats fending off the paparazzi.

During the Bahamas horse riding sequence, Caterina Murino (Solange) was having leg pain, and the filmmakers were thinking of using a stunt double for that sequence. Murino insisted on doing the scene without body doubles, saying that it will be her “classic Bond Girl” moment.

About Demetrius

Demetrius is played by Simon Abkarian. He is French, but moved to Lebononan when he was a kid. Studied theatre and drama school in the US and Casino Royale was pretty much his first film role. He has done a lot of foreign films since, and films I’ve never heard of apart from Zero Dark Thirty. Although there is Notre Dame on Netflix, a 6 part series, I would actually want to watch that.

What shorts does Bond wear?

James Bond wears La Perla Grigioperla Lodato from the Spring/Summer 2006 collection when he comes out the water in Casino Royale.

You can listen to the show, There Will Be Bond on Spotify and Apple.
