I visited Cairo with the wife late January, 2026. Here are some photos of our travels hunting down James Bond locations from The Spy Who Loved Me.
Below I’ll share some links to the tour guides we used, the hotel we stayed and a restaurant along the nile we frequented.

Bond is on the way to meet Fekkesh. I don’t know the location above, if anyone does please drop me a note on INSTA.

Bond arrives at the Gayer Anderson Museum. Above. That door is currently closed and has been for three years according to the guy at the kiosk. I’ve messaged the ministry of antiques and tourism and asked why.

Bond then walks across an open room with twin arches (below). This is shot from the roof of the building, the exact spot on the roof was closed to the public.

This is a shot of the room (bel0w), two circular tables have been added and a new rug.

Bond then knocks on the door of the celebrations hall.

Below you can see the door is still there and the wooden dresser is easily identifiable. Although the back of the dresser was blackened out in the film, or perhaps it’s been refurbished/altered in someway since the film.

Inside the Celebrations hall below. The fountain wasn’t on like it was in the film. In the back there you can see the sniper box that Sandor got his shot off from.

The chandelier has been replaced and you can play spot the difference with the rest.

The huge black vase is still there.

The side of the roof where Bond finishes off Sandor was closed off. But you can see above and below the differences. The middle wall partition is gone. There are new buildings in the background also.

You can see the fight on YouTube in this clip here.
The wife and I also did the Giza Pyramids however, the pyramids were filmed on set back at Pinewood. According to the behind the scenes documentary which you can see on YouTube here.
We stayed at the Steigenberger Hotel.

You can pay for a Visa ahead of the visit for £25 here. And at customs we paid an extra £15 each to fast track.
We took a guided tour of the grand museum (the new one) through this guide.
We did a day trip to Alexandria through this guide here.
We did the old museum and the Gayer Anderson Museum through this guide here. But we had to amend the schedule to do the Gayer Anderson Museum, missing out the markets and another church. Be sure to ask for Heather and say you need to see the James Bond location.
Lastly we did the pyramids and camel ride with Khalid through this tour here. Very much recommend Khalid. Good dude.
Lastly lastly be sure to eat at Pier 88 along the nile.
