AVTAK – 012 Patreon – rough notes
The audio version of the book is an hour, and has very little to do with the film. Except its French Connections. It has Bond in Paris, meeting a woman ex-secret service employee, also I believe in 007 in New York but haven’t read that in a while.
Bond really has no time for Paris, his last good day was in 1945 and says that Paris has lost its heart. Pawned to the tourists, the scum of the earth and the Germans.
Interesting in Some Kind of Hero that John Glen wanted to use a lot of the original short story. He liked the idea of a spy ring in France and a motorcycle courier disappears.
The Eiffel tower stunt was originally in Moonraker Along with the butterfly girl, but repurposed for A View to a Kill.
Not only was it Roger Moore’s last film, but Bob Simmons was let go on this film too. Director John Glen said it’s one of the hardest decisions he ever had to do, but he looked after the horses and that pleased him.
It was also Lois Maxwell’s last film.
Fun fact: Christopher Walken said he laughed during his death scene on the Golden Gate bridge, only because he found it preposterous that he was really falling onto mattresses a couple of feet below.
